Wales’ First Minister Mark Drakeford and Labour’s Regional Assembly Member for Ceredigion have both congratulated Dinah Mulholland, who has been re-selected to stand as the Labour Party candidate in Ceredigion at the next General Election.
Dinah won the overwhelming backing of local Labour Party members at the selection which took place in New Quay just before the annual UK Labour conference in Brighton. At the last snap General Election in 2017, Labour benefited from the largest increase in vote share of any political party in the constituency, a huge 10.5%. At a meeting with Party members at the Black Lion Hotel in Cardigan, Mark Drakeford spoke of the impacts that Austerity, Brexit and climate change were having on our economy and society more widely. Mr Drakeford said that the Welsh Government budget for next year was the same as that in 2010 and despite the Tories’ assertion that “Austerity is over”. Prospective Parliamentary Candidate, Dinah Mulholland said: “Labour is the only political party with the will and the capacity to combat climate change, to restore the damage to our public services caused by Conservative and LibDem austerity policies, and to unite our communities divided by Brexit. I’m honoured to have been selected to represent Labour in Ceredigion and to put forward our life-changing, life-saving and visionary policies in the next General Election.” Eluned Morgan AM said: “I am really pleased that local members have reselected Dinah to stand for them at the next General Election. Dinah has proven herself as a hardworking, local campaigner who at the last General Election increased Labour’s share of the vote. I look forward to campaigning with her again, to end austerity and do all we can at a Welsh and UK level to combat climate change.” |
