The National Library is a treasure. I am making representations to Welsh Government, pushing for an increase in funding for The Library, so that it can continue to serve the people of Wales. Jackie Jones, Labour & Co-operative Party candidate for Ceredigion Preseli in The General Election

Ceredigion Preseli Constituency Labour Party was grateful to hear from passionate and informative National Library workers at its most recent meeting on Wednesday 27th March. The speakers, from PCS Cymru and Prospect – National Library of Wales spoke movingly about the threat to their jobs and the existential risk to the service that they love.

Local Labour Party members wholeheartedly supported the campaign to increase, not cut, funding for the National Library in Aberystwyth and the other organisations, which safeguard the heritage and history of Wales.

Jackie Jones, Labour & Co-operative Party candidate for Ceredigion Preseli in The General Election said:

These cuts to our culture and heritage are a result of this Tory government’s deliberate policy of starving local services. The knock-on impact to tourism and the local economy will be significantly felt in Aberystwyth and beyond.

Please sign and share the petition below to help save our culture and history, and protect skilled local jobs in the face of Rishi Sunak’s £700m cut in real terms to public spending in Wales.
